C.W. James Melling, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Schools of Health Studies and Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario. Since 2007, he has taught a Functional Human Anatomy course for the Faculty of Health Sciences that provides an understanding and working knowledge of the human body’s major physiological systems.
His main research focus involves the role of exercise on the development of cardiovascular disease in Type I diabetes (T1D). Current projects in his laboratory are examining the challenges associated with the exercising T1D patient including the type of insulin therapy, diet, as well as the form of exercise, in an attempt to develop the most ‘ideal’ exercise program to minimize cardiovascular disease in this population.
